Top Gun Guides, LLC was officially founded in the early 1990s, but its history goes back to 1968 when Davy Daniels began guiding waterfowl hunts on a few trusted farms in Southeast Louisiana.
Davy and longtime friend Elton Kennedy began by leasing blinds together, but when costs rose, they pivoted to offering day hunts.
The first few seasons were small—just a handful of groups, all by word of mouth. What made Top Gun special from the start was that every agreement, every promise, was sealed with nothing more than a handshake.

In the early 2000s, Davy’s son returned home from college baseball to work the family farm. He brought fresh energy and a bit of marketing know-how to the guide service, helping it grow while preserving the honest, hardworking values it was built on.
Today, Top Gun Guides manages over 10,000 acres of private land throughout Southeast Louisiana. The team runs 8–10 pit blinds during duck season and hunts 2–4 groups per day.
During Conservation Goose Season, that expands to as many as 15–20 groups per day, with additional acreage reserved for dove and goose hunts.
